- Scottish Premier League matches attract more spectators per capita than any other nation in Europe
- The most expensive acquisition for the Scottish Premier League was Norwegian striker, Tore Andre Flo. Rangers paid £12m for his services and he made 72 appearances for the club, scoring 38 goals, before moving to Sunderland
- Ranger’s goal keeper, Chris Woods, didn’t conceded a goal for 1 196 minutes, a British record for the longest shut-out by a goalie. Adrian Sprott of Hamilton Academical sullied his record in the late 1980’s.
- Austrian, Brian Laudrap, named by Pele in 2004 as one of the top 125 greatest living footballers, became the first foreign player to win the Scottish Player of the Year award in 1995
- The first footballer to score 200 Scottish Premiership goals was Ally McCoist of Rangers. He later became the club’s record goal scorer, with 355 goals and in addition holds the club record for the number of league goals scored (251), the number of Scottish League Cup goals scored (54) and the most goals scored by a player in European competitions (21). He is also the third in the all-time appearance standings, having run out 581 times for Rangers. He is currently the assistant manager of the Glasgow club.
- Celtic was fined a record £100 000 in 1994 for ‘tapping’ or speaking to incumbent manger, Tommy Burns, without Kilmarnock’s permission, whilst under contract to the club as both player and manager. Burns, who was instrumental in Kilmarnock’s promotion to the Scottish Premier division in 1992-93, accepted Celtic’s offer but effectively ended his professional career as a player as Kilmarnock were allowed to retain his playing registration!
- The highest attendance record in the Scottish Premier League is 60 440 recorded in a game between Celtic and St Mirren in 2001, whereas the lowest attendance ever was 431, in 2008, in a match between Gretna and Inverness CT
- The Celtic Football Club holds a number of Scottish Premier League records including the record for the most goals in a season (105 goals in 2003-04), the record points tally for a season (103 points in 2001-02) and the record for an unbeaten run at home (77 matches from 2001- 2004) as well as the record for the longest run of successive wins in a single season (25)
- Celtic paid the highest transfer fee, between two Scottish Premier League clubs, when they parted with £4.5m for Hibernian midfielder, Scott Brown, a man who scored 13 goals in 110 appearances for his former club.
